Frequently Asked Questions

What types of foot conditions do you treat?

At Makarios Health, we understand how important foot health is for comfort, independence, and overall wellbeing — especially in aged care. We provide care for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Toenail care (thickened nails, fungal nails, ingrown toenails)

  • Skin care and assessments (corns, calluses, cracked heels, pressure areas)

  • Circulation (vascular) assessments

  • Neurological assessments (foot sensation, diabetes-related checks)

  • Balance and mobility concerns (falls prevention, gait support)

  • Footwear and orthotic prescription and advice

  • Heel and arch pain (plantar fasciitis, heel spurs)

  • Flat feet and high arches

  • Bunions and hammertoes

  • Sports injuries (stress fractures, tendonitis, shin splints)

  • Arthritis and joint pain

  • Foot and ankle injuries (sprains, instability)

  • Children’s foot concerns (gait, growth, development)

Do you have availability?

We strive to accommodate urgent cases and offer same-day appointments for these whenever possible. We have plenty of availability for ongoing podiatric care, fill out the contact form and we will be in touch within 24 hours!

What is a care plan?

A care plan is a referral from your GP that helps you access certain health services at a lower cost.

  • For podiatry, this is often called a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM). If you have a long-term condition such as diabetes, arthritis, or circulation problems, your GP may refer you under this plan. Medicare then provides a rebate of roughly $60 for 5 podiatry visits each year

Having a care plan means you still book directly with us, but part of the cost is covered by Medicare, making your treatment more affordable.
